What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of mind in which you experience a deep or light relaxation, enabling us to bypass the critical factor (the conscious chattering mind) and establish selective focus on goals and chosen outcomes. It is an ideal learning state to make effective, powerful and permanent change. We are able to synchronise your unconscious and conscious beliefs and desires, enabling the mind to work in unison and achieve harmony. Hypnotherapy is a drug-free, relaxing procedure and just requires your willingness and co-operation.

Hypnosis is a scientifically verified therapy and has received wide spread recognition from the British Medical Association, British Psychological Society and the American Medical Association. It has been referenced in over 11,000 research studies as a proven and effective therapy for the treatment of a variety of phobias, problems and conditions, as well as improving sports performance and confidence.

We use symptom-specific suggestion to activate your body’s natural healing mechanisms. Incorporating positive reframing and guided imagery to form a coordinated mind-body response, while posthypnotic reinforcement facilitates compliance.

Can Anyone Be Hypnotised?

Yes, but only if you want to be. Some people are under the false belief that they are too strong minded to be hypnotised. Strength of mind has nothing to do with it; we have all been in a trance before. Take for example the common occurrence of driving while your mind is “miles away”. Suddenly you arrive at your destination or something brings your attention back to the present. Did you ever wonder who was driving the car? You were doing it in a trance, acting reflexively while your mind was somewhere else. The same is true of any film you become so engrossed in that you forget it was just a film and reacted emotionally or even physically to the story, jumping at a horror film or crying at a sad movie. These are all altered trance states. Hypnotherapy is what we use to get there and give positive directions to your subconscious mind so you can achieve your goals, improve emotional/psychical wellbeing and personal growth.

What Are the Three Prinicples?

These refer to the  “formless” principles of Mind, Consciousness and Thought.  Which explain the entire range of human behavior and feeling states. They are responsible for the creation of all human experience.

The three principles are defined as:

Mind

The energy and intelligence of all life, whether in the form, or formless. The Universal Mind, or the impersonal mind, is constant and unchangeable. Thepersonal mind is in a perpetual state of change.

Consciousness

Consciousness is the gift of awareness. Consciousness allows the recognition of form, form being an expression of Thought.[6]

Thought

The power of Thought is not self-created. Thought is a divine gift, which serves you immediately after you are born. Thought is the creative agent we use to direct us through life

Will I Be Conscious?

Yes, hypnosis is not sleep. It feels like a deep relaxation for you mind and body much like a pleasant daydream or meditation. During the session you may drift in and out of this, though still aware of the words spoken and other physical sensations. In fact it can feel like a state of heightened selective focus. As you relax into a trance state and your unconscious mind becomes more receptive. We can powerfully, permanently and rapidly install new positive beliefs, create personal change at the deepest level and release any emotional blockages.

How Many Session Will I Need?

Hypnosis allows change to be achieved rapidly. I like to ensure you become acclimatized to change and create an environment, which will fully support you and your transformation, not just a quick fix. As no two people are the same I work on a case-by-case basis, usually a starting package is 4-12 sessions.

What Is NLP?

Neuro-linguistsic programming is one of the biggest developments in therapy over the last 30 years. It explores the structures and relational qualities of how we think (neuro), how we communicate (linguistic), and the patterns of behaviour / emotion and action and how it all ties together (programme)… NLP was developed by John Grinder and Richard Bandler in the 70’s and was a derivation of the works of 3 therapists in particular, Virginia Satir, Fritz Perlz and the renowned psychiatrist and hypnotherapist Milton H Erickson. Their aim in developing NLP was to discover what the top people in their field, in this case therapists were doing to get the consistently highly effective results they were achieving and the strategy for how they did it, so it could be replicated and taught to others… NLP describes how to recognize, use and change mental programming for the better
NLP today is used by millions of people worldwide, in various fields and for various purposes, including education, sport, and for therapeutic practice. It has helped people overcome everything from phobias, eating disorders, addictions, depression and many other complaints. David Bailey is an NLP master practitioner qualified by Dr Richard Bandler Society of NLP.

Will I Be In Control?

You will be fully in control of yourself throughout the session and able to come out of trance anytime you choose. Your unconscious mind has a self defence mechanism which automatically protects you should any suggestions go against your moral or ethical code. You won’t disclose anything you don’t want to.
Many film and stage hypnotists portray hypnosis as a “magic trick” where you can make people do ridiculous things. This makes for a great show, but is not based on a hypnotherapy approach. Stage hypnotists carefully select volunteers from the audience to find the more extrovert amongst them.
You are in control of choosing to see a hypnotist and deciding to take the first steps to achieving your goals and future outcomes. We will be working together towards them and I will help lead you to the path of achieving the state of mind necessary to accomplish them. Hypnosis is the process that enables us to access that powerful trance state where we are able to positively influence and synchronize both your conscious and unconscious mind. Working towards your chosen outcomes and change in areas of your life, essentially, you are gaining more control and personal power through hypnosis.
